Fishing Pole Rentals

As a service to our guests, we will offer a fishing pole and reel for the length of your vacation for only $6.00 per pole. The pole is a Shakespeare rod with Zebco bait and casting reel. The $6.00 fee is payable with your cabin rental. $15.00 of your security deposit will apply for each fishing pole rented. The pole will be left in your cabin. Upon departure leave fishing pole in cabin in the same condition it was received. The pole rental is subject to availability.

Bait and tackle: no tackle is provided. You may find bait at Dave's Grocery Store. Turn left off Wrights Creek Road onto us 19; travel 500 yards. Good sources of tackle are food lion grocery store and family dollar. For a better line of fishing tackle visit fly fishing outfitters on 441 across from the Cherokee post office.

Important fishing information: the stream by your cabin is a protected native trout stream. It is off limits for fishing. You will receive a ticket for fishing in this stream. There are over 30 miles of trout streams on the reservation; beginning at us 19 (Soco Creek) only 5 minutes away.  350,000 trout are stocked annually. They are stocked once a week in the big cove area and once in the Soco area. No state permit is required. A tribal permit is $7.00 a day. Permits can be purchased where bait is sold. Ask for detailed maps of trout waters. Natural bait works well as does corn, spinners i.e. rooster tails, panther martins and flies.
